The benefits of CLA or conjugated linoleic acid as a fat loss supplement have often been overlooked. It wasn’t until recently that CLA was termed the most underestimated weight loss supplement on the market. This is causing many researchers to give it another look.

Basically CLA helps prevent the small fat cells from becoming big fat cells by blocking the enzymes that let fat cells get bigger.

Taking a look at a Scandinavian Clinical Research study that took 60 overweight people, the study did not let them diet and they randomlyassigned each person to take a 9 gram placebo of olive oil or 1.7 grams, 3.4 grams, 5.1 grams, or 6.7 grams of CLA supplement every day for 12 weeks.
Their body mass was measured at the beginning, the middle and the end of the study. The people in the CLA groups had a significant reduction of about 2.2lbs in a 12 week period.
The most exciting part is that the weight loss was indeed fat and not overall weight and body mass index. There are yet other studies on the benefits of CLA that show there was a 15% body fat drop in those participants that took CLA at each meal through out the day.
Another study that is going on right now to look at the combination effect of CLA and guarana. The CLA reduces the fat cells size while the guarana reduces the number of fat cells by 50% in just six weeks.
CLA Side Effects
It also nice to know the side effects are minimal if not at all. If any may occur, it may be a case of mild gastro intestinal problems other than that it seems to be a safe nutritional supplement.
To reap the benefits of CLA, the researchers recommend that you should take a total of 3000 mg per day and that those 3000 mg should be divided into three equal dosages and each dose should be taken with a meal for fat reduction. Taking 3000 to 6000 mg divided equally and taken with meals every day has also been shown to help spark muscle tissue growth. Pretty simple; it almost sounds too good to be true but definitely worth trying!
